Labour pain is a sign that you are close to giving birth. Pain is caused by contraction of the uterine muscle and stretching of your muscles, which is a normal part of childbirth.
There are many pain relief methods available during labour. It is a good idea to familiarise yourself with them beforehand. Try out and practise the non-medical options, such as relaxation techniques, before you give birth.
You do not have to decide on the pain relief method in advance. However, you can weigh your options before you give birth. The midwife will advise you and your family during the childbirth process and suggest suitable pain relief options. You can use non-medical pain relief methods at home before you go to the hospital.
