When you go into labour, call the childbirth helpline. The midwife who answers the phone will assess your situation and direct you to the appropriate hospital. Read more on the ‘Labor’ pages of HUS (Link leads to external service)
Call the Women’s Hospital emergency services if you have a sudden concern about your own or your baby’s health.
Call the emergency services if you have bleeding, a sudden severe and persistent stomach pain, if you believe that your baby has suddenly become unwell, or if you have symptoms of pre-eclampsia, i.e. sharply increased blood pressure, swelling, headache, chest pain and eye symptoms.

You can call our phone service to ask for advice and book an appointment with a public health nurse.
