Maternity and child health clinics

At maternity and child health clinics, we support you and your family during pregnancy, after your baby’s birth and through the different stages of your child’s life before school age.

We provide both maternity and child health clinic services

The City of Helsinki has some 20 maternity and child health clinics, from which you can choose the one that best suits you and your family. All our clinics provide both maternity and child health clinic services.

At the maternity clinic, we monitor and support the health and wellbeing of expectant mothers, foetuses and newborn babies. We also support parents in the significant life change of having a baby.

At the child health clinic, we monitor and support the growth and development of children under school age and discuss any questions families may have. At the child health clinic, children are vaccinated against severe diseases in accordance with the national vaccination programme.

Maternity and child health clinic staff includes public health nurses and doctors. We cooperate with other health and social service professionals.

Using the services of maternity and child health clinics is voluntary. The services are free of charge.
