There is bound to be a City playground near your home, no matter where you live in Helsinki. We hold activities for families with babies at playgrounds in the morning and during the day.
You can meet other families with babies in the area while your baby enjoys their time safely close to you and examines baby toys.
Libraries’ baby activities
The City’s libraries welcome you and your small baby. You can explore picture books or take part in nursery rhyming sessions or musical fairy tales.
Several libraries have play areas for babies, where the small ones can explore their surroundings safely while you are sitting next to them and talking with other parents if you wish.

Family cafés run by organisations
Organisations and parishes organise free-of-charge meetings for families with children at the City’s playgrounds and family centres.
At a family café you can meet other families with babies and children, have a coffee, eat a snack and play with your children. For children, the family cafés have toys and a play area.
The family cafés also involve professionally trained workers of the organisation, who can provide advice and guidance on everyday life and parenting. Organisations and parishes also organise changing group activities at the cafés. You can also come to the family cafés without taking part in the group activities.
During the family cafés, the playgrounds and family centres are also available during the group activities for independent gatherings and meetings with other families.
