The City of Helsinki employs thousands of summer employees and substitutes starting from May. The first jobs usually become open for application in mid-January, and new positions become available throughout the spring. The city divisions, departments and municipal enterprises continue to post vacancies for as long as they have the need for summer employees and substitutes. Students and professionals are recruited as substitutes for the annual holidays of regular staff especially by the Social Services and Health Care Division.
