Children and young people's dental care

We provide children and young people with dental care free of charge, until they turn 18.

Children under school age

Our oral hygienists and dental assistants carry out periodic oral and dental health check-ups on children aged 1, 3 and 5. Check-ups on one-year-old children are mainly by remote appointments. Book an appointment for your child through the Maisa portal.

Schoolchildren

All schoolchildren are invited for periodic oral and dental check-ups four times during their comprehensive school years. We invite all 1st and 5th grade pupils for a check-up with a dental hygienist. If necessary, the dental hygienist will refer the child to a dentist for further treatment. All 3rd and 8th graders receive an invitation to a check-up with a dentist.

Please let us know is you are receiving dental care elsewhere and do not wish to receive letters of invitation from us. You can inform us by calling our customer service or by contacting us through the Maisa client portal (maisa.fi).

We will inform the children's parents and guardians once the appointment booking opens for periodic oral health check-ups. You can book an appointment through the Maisa portal. We invite pupils in other grades for dental check-ups and treatment according to their individual treatment plans. We also inform all 17-year-olds by letter that they can book a free-of-charge appointment for an oral health check-up with an oral hygienist. You can book an appointment through the Maisa portal.

General upper secondary school and vocational school students

If you are a student of a vocational school or general upper secondary school in Helsinki, you can book an appointment with an oral hygienist for an oral health check-up, regardless of your home municipality. The oral hygienist will check your oral health and advise you on dental care. If necessary, the oral hygienist will book an appointment for you with a dentist. Please contact us through the Maisa portal or by phone. Dental care is free of charge for those under the age of 18.
