Mpox vaccinations (monkeypox vaccinations)

Mpox vaccinations are available free of charge to people in the highest risk groups, as defined by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Who is eligible for the vaccine? 

  • Men who have sex with men and have had multiple casual partners in the past six months.
  • Men who are using PrEP medication or are on a waiting list for PrEP treatment.
  • Individuals travelling to mpox epidemic areas in Africa who have a specific risk of exposure. These risks include:
    • working in health care or other aid-related roles
    • long-term or repeated physical contact with the local population
    • visiting high-risk areas as a tourist
  • Close contacts of people who have been exposed to or infected with mpox.

How to book an appointment for the mpox vaccination 

Appointments for the mpox vaccination must be booked by phone through your local health station, as vaccines are ordered based on confirmed appointments.

Phone service opening hours

  • Monday to Thursday, 8.00–16.00
  • Friday and the day before public holidays, 8.00–15.00 

If the lines are busy, you can leave a callback request. We aim to return your call the same day between 8.00 and 16.00. If we do not reach you on the first attempt, we will try again.  Callbacks may also take place on weekends between 8.00 and 16.00.  

Please bring your Kela card or another form of identification to the vaccination appointment.
