Influenza vaccinations in Helsinki

1. Open the Maisa app or go to www.maisa.fi(Link leads to external service).
2. Log in by using strong authentication, either with your online banking credentials, a mobile certificate or a certificate card.
3. People aged 75 and over will see a booking permission on the Maisa home page stating Book an appointment for your influenza and COVID-19 vaccination. Click Schedule now.
4. Click Book appointment. Select the health station at which you want to have an appointment. You will see the health stations in your area that offer vaccinations.
5. Choose a time that suits you from the options provided.
6. Check your phone number.
7. Finally, click the Verify appointment button.
8. You can find the details of your upcoming appointment on the Events page of Maisa.

If you are also in the target group for the COVID-19 vaccine, please book just one vaccination appointment. You will get your influenza and COVID-19 vaccines at the same time.
4. Click Book appointment. Select the health station at which you want to have an appointment. You will see the health stations in your area that offer vaccinations.
5. Choose a time that suits you from the options provided.
6. Check your phone number.
7. Finally, click the Verify appointment button.
8. You can find the details of your upcoming appointment on the Events page of Maisa.

3. Go to the menu. Next, select Book Appointment and then Booking an appointment for influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations. You can only book an appointment in your own health station area.
4. In the next section, select which vaccination you would like to book an appointment for. The options are Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination, Influenza vaccination and COVID-19 vaccination. Please check whether you are eligible for the vaccinations before booking your appointment.
5. Select the unit at which you want to have an appointment. You will see either the units offering vaccinations in your local health station area or your own maternity and child health clinic.
6. Choose a time that suits you from the options provided.
7. Finally, click the Verify appointment button.
8. You can find the details of your upcoming appointment on the Events page of Maisa.

People over the age of 10 can use Maisa with their own credentials.

Please note! You can act on behalf of your child in Maisa. You can also act on behalf of an adult relative if the relative has authorised you to do so. Read more about acting on behalf of your child or relative at health stations

• The wards at Helsinki City Hospital, senior centres and service homes in Helsinki will handle the vaccination of their own clients.
• Home care clients who are unable to visit a health station to be vaccinated will receive their vaccination through home care. Their informal caregivers may also receive the vaccine at the same time if they belong to a target group for vaccination. Home care will also vaccinate those receiving informal care who are not registered as home care clients and who are unable to visit a health station to be vaccinated. If necessary, please contact your client advisor. Home care will contact its clients and organise the vaccinations, including for clients of outsourced home care services.
• This group will receive their vaccinations in October–November 2026.

• Pregnant persons and children aged between 6 months and 6 years can get the influenza vaccine during a check-up or by booking a separate appointment.
• Maternity and child health clinics provide influenza vaccinations during check-ups without an appointment as follows: 
  • The influenza vaccine administered as a nasal spray to children aged 2–6 is already provided during check-ups.
  • Pregnant persons and children aged from 6 months to 2 years can get the influenza vaccine during check-ups from 16 November 2026 onwards.
• We will administer vaccines by separate appointment between 16 and 27 November 2026. You can book an appointment with any maternity and child health clinic. Appointment booking will be available from 7 October onwards via Maisa and by telephone on +358 9 310 555 30, Mon–Fri 8.00–14.00.

Students eligible for influenza vaccination can enquire about vaccination appointments from 19 October 2026 onwards with the school nurse at their own educational institution.

• School health care provides free influenza vaccinations to schoolchildren who belong to the target groups for vaccination. Check THL’s website(Link to external service) (in Finnish)(Link leads to external service) to see who belong to the target groups for influenza vaccination due to underlying medical conditions or treatment.
• The appointment booking for schoolchildren’s influenza vaccinations has opened in Maisa.
• The vaccinations will be administered at the Centralised Unit of School Health Care and at schools.
  • At the Centralised Unit of School Health Care, the vaccinations will be administered from 2 to 6 November 2026. You can book an appointment for the influenza vaccination in Maisa or come to the unit without an appointment on the walk-in day on 5 November 2026 at 8.00–18.00.
  • The Centralised Unit of School Health Care is located at Helsinginkatu 24, 00530 Helsinki, on the 2nd floor.
  • At your own school, the school nurse will be administering vaccinations from the week starting on 9 November onwards. Please book an appointment for the influenza vaccination in Maisa. You will receive a Wilma bulletin with more details about influenza vaccinations from your school nurse.
• If your child is not in the target group for the free influenza vaccination but you would still like them to be vaccinated against influenza, please follow these steps:
• Purchase an influenza vaccine from a pharmacy. You will need a prescription to purchase the vaccine.
  • If your child is not in the target group for the free influenza vaccination or the target group for self-funded vaccinations for close contacts (The link takes you to THL’s website in Finnish)(Link leads to external service), you can obtain a prescription from a private service provider.
  • If your child is in the target group for self-funded vaccinations for close contacts (The link takes you to THL’s website in Finnish)(Link leads to external service), you can contact your child’s health station to request a prescription. You can easily contact your local health station in Maisa.
  • The target group for self-funded vaccinations for close contacts include:
    • close contacts of people aged 65 and over who do not have underlying medical conditions or are in good health
    • close contacts of children over 6 months but under 7 years of age
    • some close contacts of people in a high-risk group due to an illness or treatment.
• Purchase an influenza vaccine from a pharmacy.
• Book a vaccination appointment for your child with school health care in Maisa.
• Bring the vaccine with you to the appointment.
