Who belong to the target groups for influenza vaccinations in autumn 2025?
The influenza vaccine is recommended for the groups defined by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The vaccine is free of charge for these groups:
- Children aged 6 months to 6 years
- People aged 65 and over
- Pregnant people
- Those entering mandatory or voluntary military service
- People in a medical risk group due to illness or treatment
- Close family and friends of people who are particularly vulnerable to severe influenza. See the question on influenza vaccination for family and friends.
- Health, social welfare and pharmaceutical services staff directly involved in the care or treatment of patients and clients (vaccination mainly provided through occupational health care)
- People living or staying long-term in institutional settings.
Free influenza vaccination is also available to those at risk of avian influenza due to their work or other circumstances.
Other healthy people under the age of 65 who do not have illnesses that increase the risk of severe influenza are not eligible for free influenza vaccinations.
- If you are in close contact with a person who is susceptible to severe influenza, you can request a vaccination prescription from your health station, collect the vaccine from a pharmacy and book a vaccination appointment at your health station.
- In other cases, you can get vaccinated at your own expense at a private clinic, through occupational health care or at a pharmacy.
How to book a vaccination appointment
How to book a vaccination appointment at a health station via Maisa
- Open the Maisa app or go to maisa.fi.(Link leads to external service) (Link leads to external service)
- Log in using strong identification with your online banking codes, mobile certificate or smart ID card.
- Open the menu, then select Book appointment and Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination appointment. You can only book an appointment within your own health station area.
- Next, choose which vaccination you want to book an appointment for. The options are: Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination, Influenza vaccination, or COVID-19 vaccination. Please check that you belong to the target group before booking.
- Choose the unit where you want to book your appointment. You will see the units offering vaccinations in your health station area.
- Choose a suitable time from the available options.
- Finally, select Confirm appointment.
- You can find the details of your upcoming appointment on the Events page in Maisa.
Children over 10 years of age can use Maisa with their own login details.

How to book a vaccination appointment at a maternity and child health clinic via Maisa
- Open the Maisa app or go to maisa.fi.(Link leads to external service)(Link leads to external service)
- Log in using strong identification with your online banking codes, mobile certificate or smart ID card.
- Go to the section 'Booking an appointment for influenza vaccination' and select 'Booking an appointment for influenza vaccinatio' again.
- Select the unit at which you want to have an appointment. You can book an appointment at any maternity and child health clinic in Helsinki.
- Choose a suitable time from the available options.
- Finally, select Confirm appointment.
- You can find the details of your upcoming appointment on the Events page in Maisa.
Children over 10 years of age can use Maisa with their own login details.

Vaccinations in institutions, home care, maternity clinics, and school and student health care
Hospitals, senior centres, service homes and home care services, as well as maternity clinics, schools and educational institutions in Helsinki, are responsible for vaccinating their own clients.
- Pregnant people and children aged 6 months to 6 years will receive the influenza vaccination during health check-ups or by separate appointment till 30 January 2026.

- People who are in a target group for influenza vaccinations can ask about available vaccination time slots by contacting the nurse of their educational institution or the Centralised Unit of Student Health Care, tel. +358 40 662 4166(Link starts a phone call) .
- Students eligible for the influenza vaccination will be vaccinated at their own school.
- The school nurse will provide information on the vaccination schedule in a separate notice. Please follow your school’s vaccination updates.
- Hospital wards, senior centres and service homes in Helsinki administer vaccinations to their own clients.
- Clients receiving home care who are unable to visit a health station for vaccination, even with assistance, will receive their vaccinations through home care. Informal caregivers of home care clients who fall within the vaccination recommendations will be vaccinated at the same time.
- This group will receive their vaccinations in October–November 2025.
