Acting on behalf of a child or an adult relative at health stations

You can manage the affairs of your underage child or an adult relative at health stations through different channels, such as by phone and in Maisa.

Learn how and in which contact channels of health stations you can act on behalf of your child or adult relative.

On behalf of a child: 

  • As a guardian, you can usually take care of your underage child’s matters by phone without a separate authorisation.
  • In exceptional cases (for example, if there is a custody agreement), there may be restrictions.

On behalf of an adult: 

In Maisa, you can view health records and send messages to your health station.

On behalf of a child: 

  • As a guardian, you automatically have access to act on behalf of your underage children in Maisa.
  • Children over the age of 10 can also use Maisa themselves with strong identification (e.g. online banking credentials). 

On behalf of an adult: 

  • To act on behalf of an adult in Maisa, an authorisation is always needed.
  • You can give this authorisation either directly in Maisa or by submitting an authorisation form at a social and health services location.

  • If the person granting the authorisation lives outside Uusimaa, the form must always be submitted in person at a service location.
  • How your relative can give you the right to act on their behalf in Maisa:
    1. Go to Menu > Manage proxy access > Grant proxy access
    2. Fill in the person’s details and send an email invitation
    3. The authorised person accepts the invitation and completes the required details

Please note: When using Maisa on someone else’s behalf, always log in with your own credentials and then switch to the other person’s profile in the top menu using the Switch button.

In MyKanta(Link leads to external service) , you can view health records and renew prescriptions. 

On behalf of a child: 

  • As a guardian, you can usually act on behalf of your child under 18 in My Kanta. However, a child aged 10 or over who is considered capable of making decisions may choose to restrict their information from being shown to you.
  • Children over 10 can also use My Kanta themselves with strong identification (e.g. online banking credentials).

On behalf of an adult: 

  • To act on behalf of an adult in My Kanta, a Suomi.fi authorisation is always required.
  • Once the authorisation is in place, you can view your relative’s records and handle their matters.
