Contraceptive counselling at a health station

Contact your local health station if you want to start using birth control or you have questions about contraception.

We offer a range of services related to contraception, including the initiation of hormonal contraception, IUD fittings and removals. Our team can also provide expert advice on pregnancy termination and address concerns related to sexuality or sexual health.

To access contraceptive counselling, please get in touch with your local health station. You can reach them through Maisa or by phone. Additionally, the Kalasatama and Vuosaari health stations offer a walk-in, appointment-free consultation service for individuals under 20 years of age, regardless of gender. During these consultations, you can confidentially discuss matters related to sexual health in addition to contraception confidentially with a public health nurse.

In Helsinki, contraception is available free of charge to individuals of all ages, subject to specific criteria.

If any of the following situations apply to you, please contact our centralised contraceptive counselling service at tel. +358 9 310 45566:

- You are considering using a birth control implant as your chosen contraceptive method. - You are under 17 years old and considering starting birth control. - You have unique circumstances related to birth control that require special attention.
