Apartment modifications

We support your independent living by enabling apartment modifications.

Apartment modifications help you live as independently as possible in your own home.

Recoverable modifications include widening doorways, removing thresholds, building ramps, removing bathtubs and other obstacles. Apartment modifications are only available to your permanent residence.

Apply for the service at the local service point for Social Work for People with Disabilities, from a disability services social worker using the disability service application form.

In order to assess the need for modifications, we need an opinion from an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. For this reason, such a professional is often invited to take part in the home visit with the disability services social worker and the technical property manager of Premises Centre. They will consider the needed modifications as a whole and options for implementing them together with you.

The social worker decides which of the proposed apartment modifications are recoverable.

The amount of recoverable costs must be reasonable.

The service is free of charge to you.

How do I apply for apartment modifications?

The service is applied for using the disability service application form. You need to attach an opinion from an occupational therapist or physiotherapist to your application.
