What kind of activities are there at Pikkis?
We work in small groups. We have six small groups, in which each person's needs and strengths are taken into account.
We plan the day's activities based on what interests you. We also use the activity centre's own annual calendar to help us plan. Once we have gotten to know you, we will agree on a suitable goal for you for about six months at a time.
The day begins with a morning briefing, where we give a clear overview of the day's program and activities. We can also make a personal daily plan for you to help you visualize the course of the day and support your concentration. You can use your own communication tools in all activities.
We spend time outdoors every day. The day includes active pursuits, practicing everyday skills, and also moments of rest. We use various facilities, such as:
- sensory room
- art room
- music room
- gym
- teaching kitchen
We go on excursions in the local area and to different parts of Helsinki. We also organize joint parties and cultivate a joyful, mutually respectful sense of humour.
Inclusion and goal-orientation
Goal-oriented joint activities bring meaning and success to your days. Daytime activities support social inclusion and strengthen your sense of being an important part of the community.
You will be able to utilize your strengths, learn new things, and strengthen your self-awareness. We encourage you to tell us about your wishes and dreams.
We will work with you and your loved ones to create a personalized service plan. In the plan, we will agree on what you want to achieve and how we can help you reach your goals.
Fees and transportation
Daytime activities are free of charge. We charge a small fee for meals.
We also take care of your transportation to and from Pikkis.
- If you use public transportation, we will get you an HSL travel card.
