Maunula outdoor recreation area

The Maunula outdoor recreation area is part of the Central Park. The Maunula hiking lodge is at the heart of the outdoor recreation area, and there are outdoor exercise equipment and outdoor volleyball courts in the vicinity. There is a nature trail and a jogging trail in the area. One of the specialties of the area is the hazel grove, which is a protected habitat under the Nature Conservation Act.

What does Maunula offer?

Maunula nature trail 

There is a 3.3-kilometre nature trail in the vicinity of the Maunula outdoor recreation area, which circles through the diverse nature of Maunula in the Central Park. The nature trail runs through the Maunula hazel grove, which is a protected habitat.

Maunula jogging track 

The Maunula jogging track is a 1.5-kilometre long saw-dust track that passes by the Maunula lodge. Cycling and dog walking are forbidden on the jogging track.

Maunula skiing track 

In winter, the Maunula jogging track is turned into a skiing track for both classic and skating techniques.

Maunula hiking lodge 

There is a café in the Maunula hiking lodge. The café is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Toilets 

The Maunula hiking lodge has toilet facilities that are available when the lodge is open.

There is an outdoor exercise area next to the Maunula hiking lodge. Another outdoor exercise area can be found by the Keskuspuistontaival road.

Maunula volleyball courts 

There are two volleyball courts next to the Maunula hiking lodge and jogging trail.

Maunula dog park 

There is a dog park in Maunula with separate fenced areas for small and large dogs.

Allotment gardens in Maunula 

The allotment garden in Maunula is maintained and developed by Maunulanpuiston Palstaviljelijät ry.

Maunula urn cemetery 

Maunula urn cemetery, located along the Maunula nature trail, is the largest urn cemetery in Finland. It is also one of the richest, most beautiful and well-maintained parks in Helsinki.

Pet cemetery 

Helsinki’s pet cemetery is located in Maunula. The cemetery is located near the Maunula nature trail.

Nature

The specialties of Maunula include the small ash forest, the crack willows and the valuable hazel grove, which is a protected habitat under the Nature Conservation Act.

General rules 

Bicycles and dogs are prohibited on the saw-dust jogging trail. In winter, remember the skiing trail rules: no walking or dogs on the trails.
