Islands

Helsinki and the metropolitan area are surrounded by a unique archipelago that is the perfect place for spending pleasant summer days. Some of the islands are connected by a bridge, while others are served by ferry. Some of the islands are small islets that can only be reached by boat or kayak. Explore the most popular islands and their services.

Head out to sea with a city rowing boat

You can use a Baltic Sea rowing boat free of charge at Lauttasaari, Mustikkamaa, Hietaniemi and Töölönlahti. You can also rent an archipelago rowing boat in Vuosaari for a small fee. With the Baltic Sea rowing boat, you can try magnet fishing (plogging) and help remove metal debris from the sea.

These activities have been made possible through the participatory budgeting project OmaStadi.
