We provide short-term care both during the informal caregivers’ statutory days off and for those receiving informal care who do not have an official care agreement. In exceptional circumstances, we may also provide short-term care to people living alone.

If you are already using the City’s senior services (such as informal care or home care), discuss the possibility of short-term care with your personal care worker or home care staff. If you do not yet receive senior services, please contact Senior Info. Go to the Senior Info page

Short-term care is subject to a fee. The fee depends on several factors, including:

  • whether the care provided is 24-hour or part-time
  • whether the care is provided in a care home or in a service housing facility
  • whether the care replaces the statutory days off for an informal caregiver.

Tuulenpesä has 14 client places. Our premises are located on the entrance floor of Riistavuori, near the service centre and the restaurant. Tuulenpesä allows easy access to spending time outdoors, participating in the activities of the senior centre, and enjoying the restaurant’s menu.

We respect your privacy and your right of self-determination. You are always welcome to our communal activities, but you can just as well spend time by yourself when it feels like a better alternative. We aim to offer you a refreshing stay at Tuulenpesä, so that you can have pleasant memories of it when you return home.

The accessible facilities at Tuulenpesä support a safe and smooth daily life. The verdant yard allows you to spend time outdoors and enjoy the natural environment safely.

You will live in a room for 1–2 people with its own bathroom.

The common areas include a dining area and a combined kitchen and living room. The Riistavuori Senior Centre’s Alppiruusu restaurant, a branch of the City Library, and space for spending time are located right next to Tuulenpesä.

You can spend time with others and participate in group activities in the common areas.

You can enjoy your meals at the Alppiruusu restaurant with others, or, if you prefer, in the combined kitchen and living room at Tuulenpesä. We take your meal preferences and your individual needs into consideration.

Our restaurant service provider is happy to receive feedback on their operations.

You can spend time outdoors in the garden and the surrounding area. The garden has safe routes and leisure areas. Our yard also has a sensorimotor park which allows you to activate your senses and practise your balance using different kinds of instruments and devices.

Your schedule at Tuulenpesä is shaped according to your own daily routine. You can participate in joint activities, spend time outdoors or by yourself, according to your wishes.

Don’t forget to take a look at the monthly programme, which lists the common events for the entire Riistavuori Senior Centre.
