Selja, Paatsama and Angervo Group Homes (Etelä-Haaga)

The Selja, Paatsama and Angervo Group Homes are located on the first to third floors of the C building of the Riistavuori Senior Centre.

The Selja, Paatsama and Angervo Group Homes offer you 24-hour care and support. Selja is an MRSA unit. Paatsama and Angervo are intended for people with memory disorders.

How can you move in with us, and how much does it cost?

You can move in with us following an assessment of your service needs. Find out more about how to apply for housing services for the elderly.

24-hour service housing covers the care and treatment you need, activities that support your functional capacity, services related to meals, laundry and clothes care, washing and cleaning, as well as services that promote participation and social interaction.

You pay rent as well as a monthly fee based on your net income, to cover the services included in the 24-hour service housing.

What is it like to live in the Selja, Paatsama and Angervo Group Homes?

We take your individual abilities and needs into account. We help and support you when you need it. We respect your privacy and your right of self-determination. You can participate in our joint activities whenever it suits you, or spend time by yourself.

We hope to support you in your new stage of life at the group home. We will help you to maintain the important things in your life.

Your loved ones are welcome to visit us. Our visitation hours are flexible, but we prefer to reserve times such as late evenings for evening routines.

Facilities and accessibility

Selja, Paatsama and Angervo are located in accessible premises on the first to third floors of the C building of the Riistavuori Senior Centre. The facilities support a safe and smooth daily life.

The yard of the Riistavuori Senior Centre is peaceful and verdant.

Your room – your home

You will have your own room with a bathroom. You can furnish your room with your own furniture, textiles and important belongings. This makes the environment feel familiar and safe.

Common areas

The common lounging room and dining areas allow you to spend time with others, participate in joint activities, or meet your loved ones.

Meals

You can enjoy your meals in the dining area with others or, if you prefer, in your own room. We take your meal preferences and your individual needs into consideration.

Garden and local environment

You can spend time outdoors in the garden and the surrounding area. The garden has safe routes and leisure areas. Our yard also has a sensorimotor park which allows you to activate your senses and practise your balance using different kinds of instruments and devices.

What is everyday life like with us?

Your everyday life is shaped to suit you. You can carry out everyday chores, spend time outdoors, participate in activity sessions or e.g. join in with a group magazine reading session. You can decide which activities to participate in, and when you would rather spend time by yourself or have a rest.

Riistavuori also organises many kinds of cultural events, for example, to which you are very welcome.

Information for family members and loved ones

Your loved ones can visit you at their convenience. We are well served by public transport, and there are parking spaces on the yard of the senior centre. Please let the information desk know your car’s registration number when you arrive for a visit.

Guests can:

  • spend time with you in your room or in the common areas
  • bring snacks and enjoy them with you
  • participate in the events at Riistavuori with you
  • visit the Alppiruusu Restaurant with you (open Mon–Sun 8.00–17.30). You can find the lunch menu here(Link leads to external service)
  • bring a pet along, but please arrange this with the staff in advance.

Your loved ones can also take you out for a walk or to visit friends and family. Please let the staff know.

Personnel and contact information

Our multi-disciplinary team supports your everyday life.

  • Your appointed nurse is responsible for your overall everyday life and is there to support you.
  • The senior nurse supports and guides the staff and residents in their everyday life. They also act as a stand-in for the supervisor.
  • Practical nurses and nurses ensure your day-to-day care and wellbeing.
  • Your doctor is responsible for your medical care.
  • A social instructor can help you with matters related to services and life circumstances.
  • A physiotherapist participates in the everyday activities.

The exterior door to stairwell C is locked, so please use the front door between 6.30 and 20.00. During other times, you can use the C door by calling the number of the group home.

The route to the main entrance

  • The 2 accessible parking spaces are located outdoors over 10 m from the entrance. The width of the parking spaces is less than 3.6 m.
  • 1.5-17.11.25 välisenä aikana käynnissä piharemontti, joka voi ajoittain vaikuttaa pysäköintipaikkoihin.
  • The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the entrance, giving easy access to the pavement.
  • The route to the entrance is smooth and sufficiently wide and illuminated.

The main entrance

  • The entrance stands out clearly and is illuminated. There is a canopy above the entrance.
  • The doors connected to the entrance are hard to perceive. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens automatically with a motion sensor.

In the facility

  • The customer service point is located on the entrance floor.
  • The doors in the facility are hard to perceive.
  • The facility has an accessible toilet.
