We are located in the bright facilities of the second floor of the Laajasalo Service Home B building, with beautiful and verdant views.

We offer assisted living for those of you who need 24-hour care and support in your daily lives. It is important for us that you can live a safe and peaceful life of your own preferences, in accordance with your own wishes and ways.

How can you move in with us, and how much does it cost?

You can move in with us following an assessment of your service needs. Find out more about how to apply for housing services for the elderly

24-hour service housing covers the care and treatment you need, activities that support your functional capacity, services related to meals, laundry and clothes care, washing and cleaning, as well as services that promote participation and social interaction.

You pay rent as well as a monthly fee based on your net income, to cover the services included in the 24-hour service housing.

What is it like to live at the Merivuokko Group Home?

At Merivuokko, you can live your daily life in your own way. We will help you every day according to your needs and wishes. It is important that you and your loved ones tell us about your wishes and your abilities, so that we can support your life in a way that suits you. Your loved ones are welcome to be part of your everyday life and our shared activities.

We respect your privacy and your right of self-determination. You can participate in our joint activities whenever it suits you, or spend time by yourself.

Facilities and accessibility

Merivuokko is located in accessible facilities on the second floor of the Laajasalo Service Home B building with a direct access to its own spacious balcony.

  • The building has two lifts.
  • The shared dining area and living room encourage spending time together.
  • Moving within the facilities is easy.
  • The yard is peaceful and uncluttered.
  • You can use the gym at the A building of the Service Home, instructed by the staff.

The facilities support a safe and smooth daily life.

Your room – your home

You will live in a room for 1–2 people, with its own bathroom. 

The room is your home, and you can decorate it with your own furniture, textiles and important belongings. This makes the environment feel familiar and safe.

Common areas

The common lounging room and dining areas allow you to:

  • spend time with the other residents
  • participate in joint activities
  • watch television together
  • meet your loved ones

Your loved ones are warmly welcome to the common areas.

Meals

You will enjoy your meals in the common areas or on weekdays at the service home’s Tuulentupa Restaurant together with the others. Depending on how you’re feeling, you can also have your meals in your own room. We take your individual dietary requirements into account.

Mealtimes are peaceful and unhurried.

Garden and local environment

You can spend time outdoors in the garden and the surrounding area with your loved ones or the staff. 

Nearby you’ll find:

  • a pergola in our own garden for relaxing and spending time together
  • parks, recreational trails and the Hevossalmi beach
  • shops and other services
  • good public transport connections

Being outdoors and the natural environment support your wellbeing and give meaning to your everyday life.

What is everyday life like with us?

Your daily life is shaped according to your own daily routine. The day includes:

  • basic care and support
  • moments of rest and time to yourself
  • opportunities to participate in joint activities

We organise various cultural activities, for example. You can decide for yourself which activities you’d like to participate in. The weekly programme is always posted on the notice boards in the common areas, and you can also have a copy in your room.

Information for family members and loved ones

Your loved ones can visit you at their convenience, as we do not have set visiting hours. The group home is well served by public transport. 

There are parking spaces in the yard (4 hours with a parking disc). If the disc spaces are taken, you can ask a member of staff for a parking permit, which will allow you to park in other spaces as well.

Guests can:

  • spend time with you in your room or in the common areas
  • bring snacks and enjoy them with you
  • visit the Tuulentupa Restaurant on the ground floor of the A building with you. The restaurant is open on weekdays at 8.30–15.00 (lunch 11.30–13.00). You can find the lunchmenu here(Link leads to external service)
  • bring a pet along, but please arrange this with the staff in advance

Your loved ones can also take you out for a walk or to visit friends and family. Please let the staff know, either in advance or when you leave.

Personnel and contact information

Our multi-disciplinary team supports your everyday life.

  • Your appointed nurse pair is responsible for your overall everyday life and is there to support you.
  • Care assistants, practical nurses and nurses ensure your day-to-day care and wellbeing.
  • Your doctor is responsible for your medical care.
  • A social instructor can help you with matters related to services and life circumstances.
  • Physiotherapists and occupational therapists support you with matters related to your physical and functional abilities.
