Devices or equipment to be installed in an apartment

The installation of devices and equipment in your apartment will enhance your self-reliance and enable you to maintain independent living at home.

Devices and equipment to be installed in your apartment are designed to promote and support your independent living within the comfort of your own home. These recoverable items encompass a range of aids, such as lifting devices, stairlifts, various alarm systems, and electric opening systems for entrance doors.

Additionally, recoverable devices and equipment may include standard home equipment if it contributes to your ability to live independently. It's important to note that costs related to typical housing amenities or general comfort are not eligible for reimbursement.

To apply for this service, please visit your local Social Work for People with Disabilities service point or consult a disability services social worker, using the designated disability service application form. In order to evaluate the necessity for modifications, we require a medical certificate and an assessment from an occupational therapist or physiotherapist.

Upon approval of the service, the city's master builder will create an implementation plan and manage any necessary permit procedures. In cases of hearing impairment, the implementation plan will be developed by a rehabilitation instructor from HUS Helsinki University Hospital.

Please be aware that we exclusively reimburse expenses related to equipment and devices intended for installation in your permanent residence. The costs deemed recoverable must be reasonable and in accordance with our guidelines.

The service is free of charge to you.

How do I apply for the service?
