We offer assisted living for those of you who need 24-hour care and support in your daily lives. You will live in bright facilities of the third floor of the Marja building of Kontula Senior Centre.
It is important to us for you to be able to live a life of your own preferences. We will support you in living a safe and peaceful life in accordance with your own wishes and ways.

How can you move in with us, and how much does it cost?
You can move in with us following an assessment of your service needs. Find out more about how to apply for housing services for the elderly.
24-hour service housing covers the care and treatment you need, activities that support your functional capacity, services related to meals, laundry and clothes care, washing and cleaning, as well as services that promote participation and social interaction.
You pay rent as well as a monthly fee based on your net income, to cover the services included in the 24-hour service housing.

What is it like to live in a group home?
At the group home, you can live your daily life in your own way. We listen to you and take your wishes and abilities into account. We will plan your daily routines together so that they feel natural for you.
We respect your privacy and your right of self-determination. You can participate in our joint activities whenever it suits you. You can also spend time on your own when you wish.
Facilities and accessibility
The Karpalo Group Home is located in accessible premises on the fifth floor of the main building of the Kontula Senior Centre.

- The yard is peaceful and uncluttered.
The facilities support a safe and smooth daily life.
Your room – your home
You will have your room with your own bathroom. There is also one twin room.
Your room is your home. You can furnish it with your own furniture, textiles, and important belongings. This makes the environment feel familiar and safe.
Common areas
The common lounging room and dining areas allow you to:
- spend time with the other residents
- participate in joint activities
- meet your loved ones
Your loved ones are always welcome to the common areas.
Meals
You can have your meals in the communal dining area together with the other residents. We take your meal preferences and your individual needs into consideration.
Mealtimes are peaceful and unhurried.
Garden and local environment
You can spend time outdoors in the garden and the surrounding area according to your abilities.
Nearby you’ll find:
- parks and recreational trails
- shops and other services in the centre of Kontula
- good public transport connections

What is everyday life like with us?
Your daily life is shaped according to your own daily routine. Your day includes:
- basic care and support
- moments of rest and time to yourself
- opportunities to participate in joint activities
We organise different kinds of hobby activities and outdoor activities, for example. You can decide for yourself which activities you’d like to participate in. A printed copy of the weekly programme is delivered to your room.
Information for family members and loved ones
Your loved ones can visit you at their convenience. Visiting us using public transport services is easy, and we also have parking spaces for guests.
The guests can
- spend time with you in your own room or in the common areas
- bring snacks and enjoy them with you
- visit the restaurant downstairs with you

Your guests can bring their pet along. Please arrange this with the staff in advance.
Your loved ones can also take you out for a walk or to visit friends and family. Please let the staff know in advance or when you leave.

- Your appointed nurse pair is responsible for your overall care and is there to support you.
- The practical nurses and nurses ensure your daily wellbeing.
- Your doctor is responsible for your medical care.
- A social instructor can help you with matters related to services and your life situation.
- A physiotherapist will plan your rehabilitation and is responsible for any assistive devices you may need.
