Urgent care and emergency services

If you need urgent care when your health station is closed, do a symptom assessment in the Omaolo service or call the Medical Helpline before you go to the emergency care location. The Omaolo symptom assessment will give you an assessment of the urgency of your care needs and instructions around the clock. If necessary, you can contact a professional through Omaolo.

Emergency dental care Monday–Friday

Emergency dental care for adults is open Monday–Friday 8.00–15.00 at Meilahti Oral and Dental Centre and Kalasatama Dental Clinic.

Children and young people can access urgent care on weekdays, mainly at the dental clinic in their own neighbourhood.

Evening, weekend and night on-call services

Evening and weekend on-call services are provided at Park Hospital and night on-call services at Meilahti Emergency Department.

The social and crisis emergency services are available 24 hours a day:

Reduced opening hours and temporary closures in summer 2026

Health stations are open 15 June – 30 August, Monday–Friday 8.00–16.00.

Kalasatama Health Station is open 22 June – 9 August, Monday–Friday 8.00–16.00.

Kannelmäki Health Station is open 15 June – 14 August, Monday–Tuesday 8.00–16.00, Wednesday 8.00–18.00, Thursday–Friday 8.00–16.00.

Ruoholahti Health Station operates normally throughout the summer. Urgent appointments are available Monday–Friday 8.00–16.00. Extended opening hours by appointment Monday–Friday 7.00–20.00 and Saturdays 9.00–15.00.

Centralised contraceptive counselling is open 22 June – 9 August, Monday–Friday 8.00–16.00.

Kalasatama Diabetes Centre closes on 15 June.

Vuosaari Diabetes Centre closes on 22 June.

Diabetes Centre operations will be centralised to the Herttoniemi location 22 June – 2 August. Starting from 3 August, the service will be available at the Western unit (Paciuksenkatu 21) and the Eastern unit (Siilikuja 3 D, current Herttoniemi location).

Herttoniemi Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic is closed 1 June – 31 August. During this time, clients are treated at the Malmi unit.

Fundus photography of the eye is closed 13 July – 2 August. All referrals, phone calls and Maisa messages will be processed.

The Wound Clinic is closed 13 July – 2 August.

The Paediatric Clinic is closed 6–26 July.

Dental care appointments can be made normally in the summer, Mon–Thu 7.00–16.00 and Fri 7.00–15.00, tel. +358 9 310 51400.

The dental care chat service is open Monday–Friday 8.00–15.00 at hel.fi/dentalcare. The chat service will provide you with advice for dental and oral health problems, no appointment needed.

Oral health care units are closed in the summer of 2026 as follows:

Haaga, Myllypuro and Kivelä Mieppi mental health service units are closed 6 July – 2 August. Kalasatama Mieppi stays open during this period (no evening appointments).

Mental health and substance abuse work nurses do not provide evening appointments at health stations 6 July – 2 August.

The Psychiatric Outpatient Clinics of Kalasatama, Laakso, Malmi and Vuosaari do not provide evening appointments 1 June – 31 August.

The day unit is closed 6 July – 2 August.

The Centre for Bipolar Disorder Research and Care is closed 22 June – 26 July.

The neuropsychiatric working group is closed 6 July – 2 August.

The intensive outpatient treatment groups of the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinics are closed 29 June – 2 August.

The acute, assessment and consultation workgroup does not provide evening appointments 6 July – 2 August.

The psychiatric teams for children and young people are closed 13–26 July.

The Brief Therapy Unit does not provide evening appointments 1 June – 31 August.

There are no appointments at the Kalasatama, Laakso, Malmi and Vuosaari Substance Abuse Clinics after 16.00 1 June – 31 August.

The Kontula Health Counselling Point is closed from 1 June to 30 September. The Symppis day centres in Itäkeskus and Sörnäinen (Itis Symppis and Sörkka Symppis), as well as the Mobile Symppis, are operating normally.

There are no appointments at the Substitution Treatment Clinic after 16.00 1 June – 31 August.

Group substance abuse rehabilitation is closed 6–19 July.

The Outpatient Clinic for the Intellectually Disabled (Sofianlehdonkatu 8 A) and its telephone helpline are closed 6–31 July. The summer team of the outpatient clinic will reply to clients’ Maisa messages, and the treatment of special clients will be monitored normally throughout the summer. In emergency situations, you can seek treatment via emergency health services or emergency social services.

The following units for work and day activities for the disabled are closed 6–31 July.

Family centres and maternity and child health clinic

Family centres and maternity and child health clinics are open 15 June – 9 August, Monday–Friday 8.00–16.00.

The maternity and child health clinic telephone service is open 15 June – 10 August, Monday–Friday 7.00–16.00. You can submit a callback request Monday–Friday 8.00–12.00.

The maternity and child health clinic chat service is open 15 June – 10 August, Monday–Friday 8.00–12.00. Chatbot Hester is available 24/7.

Between 29 June and 26 July, maternity and child health clinics handle examinations of children up to two years of age and pregnant people, as well as other necessary examinations.

 

Child welfare and family social work

Child welfare and family social work services’ temporary care is closed 6 July – 2 August.

The 24-hour family rehabilitation services of child welfare and family social work services are closed 29 June – 26 July.

 

Special services for families

The following special services for families are closed 20 July – 2 August:

  • Maternity and child health clinic psychologist services
  • Couples work
  • Speech therapy for children
  • Therapeutic work for families with infants.

Family law services will be closed 13–19 July.

Senior Info is open normally throughout the summer. The telephone service and the information point (Siltasaarenkatu 2) are open Monday–Friday 9.00–15.00, tel. +358 9 310 44556.

Service centres have reduced opening hours in the summer. Please check the summer opening hours on the service centres' own websites www.hel.fi/service-centres.

Assistive device services’ mobile unit is on a summer break 15 June – 16 August.

The Palliative Outpatient Clinic (Suursuonlaita 3 B) is closed 6–26 July. The Infusion Outpatient Clinic operating in the same premises will be open normally.

The Geriatric Outpatient Clinic’s appointment and memory coordinator activities (Helsinginkatu 24) are closed on 6–19 July.

The frontline veterans’ rehabilitation office (Lääkärinkatu 6 C) is closed 13 July – 9 August.

The office for services for war veterans to support living at home (Mannerheimintie 168 b) is closed 6 July – 9 August.

Housing counselling for the unhoused is closed 27 July – 9 August

Counselling for the unhoused (Housing Support) is open on Mondays and Wednesdays 9–11.30 and 12–15 between 1 June and 31 August.

The social lending and financial advice service is closed 13–26 July.

Non-institutional work activities (Hopeatie 6) are closed 6 July – 2 August

Pakila Work Centre (Kyläsaarenkatu 8 and Suvilahdenkatu 10 A) is closed 6 July – 2 August

Uusix workshops (Kyläsaarenkatu 8 and Suvilahdenkatu 10 A) are closed 6 July – 2 August

In the summer, student health care services are available at almost all educational institutions until Midsummer. The best way to contact a nurse is by phone or via the e-services. You can also submit a contact request through Wilma or by e-mail.

The centralised services for student health care are available throughout the summer by appointment at Lintulahdenkatu 10, 7th floor. Appointments can be made by calling +358 9 310 70800 9.00–13.00. The services are intended for students and young people, including those not currently studying or working.

The services of school and student health doctors are not available 13–26 July.
