Introduction to the Urban Environment Division

The Urban Environment Division is responsible for planning, construction and maintenance as well as building control and environmental services related to the Helsinki urban environment.

Head of the Urban Environment Division Ville Lehmuskoski manages the close to 1,700 employees employed by the Division. The Deputy Mayor of the Urban Environment Division is Anni Sinnemäki.

The City of Helsinki Urban Environment Division consists of four departments: 

  • Land Use and City Structure
  • Buildings and Public Areas
  • Services and Permits
  • Administration and Support Services.
