Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages offers three study programmes to choose from: an English and Finnish study programme, a programme emphasising languages and internationality and a general programme. Each year 60 students enrol in the English and Finnish programme, 60 in the emphasis programme and 152 in the general programme. 

You can apply to our school through the joint application system for general upper secondary education every spring. Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages has an English and Finnish programme, a programme that emphasises languages and internationality and a general programme, and you can apply to all of them.

There are approximately 700 students at Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages. The intake for the English and Finnish programme is 61 students, for the emphasis programme 35, and for the general programme 156. The aptitude test for the English and Finnish program will take place between 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Selections for both the emphasis and the general programme are based on the students’ grade point average. Spring 2022, the lowest accepted average for the emphasis programme was 8,00 and for the general programme 7,38. Selection for the English and Finnish programme is based on joint application and aptitude test. The aptitude test will measure the students’ English and Finnish skills, as the students will take the Matriculation Exam in Finnish. The lowest accepted score in spring 2022 was 9,10.

Studying at Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages demands a sufficient command of Finnish. Students from other countries may also apply through the joint application system.
