1st–5th-graders are offered the first and second vaccine doses. The second dose is administered 6 to 12 weeks after the first.

Consent of both guardians is required for vaccinating a child

A child with two guardians cannot come in for the vaccine with only one guardian’s consent – a written consent form signed by both guardians is required. The consent form can be printed from the THL website(Link leads to external service).

Vaccination for those who have recovered from COVID-19

The first dose of the vaccine can be given to children 4 to 6 months after recovery from COVID-19. If the child has been diagnosed with a laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection less than 6 weeks after the first dose, a second dose is recommended at the earliest 4 to 6 months after the infection. If there is a gap of more than 6 weeks between the first dose and the infection, the second dose is not necessary for protection.

Vaccination requires a valid form of ID

In order to get a vaccine, the child’s identity must be proven, for example, with an ID card or Kela card. The vaccine for children is Pfizer 10 micrograms/dose. Vaccination is voluntary and free of charge.
