The City of Helsinki’s occupational health to transfer to Mehiläinen at the end of the year

Based on a decision by the City Council, the city put the occupational health services out to tender, and the new occupational health partner is Mehiläinen. The City Manager Jukka-​Pekka Ujula made the procurement decision on the matter on 18 April. According to the preliminary schedule, the occupational health services of the city’s staff will be transfer to Mehiläinen at the end of 2024.

“With this change, we want to improve the well-being of our staff and the availability of occupational health services, as well as to support work ability as systematically and effectively as possible. “We want to ensure that our employees receive high-quality and even more versatile occupational health services, as well as modern tools to support their wellbeing,” says Petri Lumijärvi, HR Director at the City of Helsinki.

The cooperation with Mehiläinen will improve the accessibility of the occupational health services and enhance digital services. Supervisors also receive new types of services to support their own work.

Currently, Occupational Health Helsinki is responsible for the occupational health care of approximately 37,500 employees of the City of Helsinki. In connection with the transition, the employees of Occupational Health Helsinki will transfer to Mehiläinen as old employees. Occupational Health Helsinki continues to serve the staff normally until the transition.
