New 2025–2029 City Council term of office
The Helsinki City Council is Helsinki’s highest decision-making body. It is responsible for the city’s operations and finances. In the municipal elections, decision-makers, councillors, and their deputies are elected to serve on the council for a four-year term.

The newly elected Helsinki City Council made its final decision on the distribution of key positions at its first meeting on 2 June 2025. The first meeting of the council will also involve appointing a chair and two deputy chairs for the City Council, members for the City Board and its subcommittees, and members for other Division committees and their subcommittees.
