Goal: Helsinki is a good city for all its residents and visitors, where everyone benefits from a safe environment and equal rights
The development of the quality of life experienced personally by residents is monitored through the Helsinki Barometer survey, which is carried out twice a year. On the basis of the survey data, an indicator has been produced that shows how large a proportion of the city residents considers that their quality of life is good.
Based on the data collected in spring 2022, 87 per cent of the survey respondents felt that their quality of life was good or very good. There was no significant difference between men and women. The result improved by 8 percentage points compared to the survey conducted in spring 2021.

Goal: Helsinki promotes public space safety for everyone
The experience of safety and insecurity is also measured twice a year in connection with the Helsinki Barometer. The survey asks respondents whether they feel safe walking alone in their residential area late at night on weekends. The percentage used as an indicator reflects the shares of those who fully or somewhat agree with the statement. According to the spring 2022 survey, 86 per cent of the respondents feel safe in their own area late at night on weekends. The proportion of men (92 per cent) who felt safe is higher than that of women (81 per cent).
