Helsinkians can get a coronavirus vaccine without appointment next Saturday 17.7. The first dose can be had at any vaccination point in Helsinki from 9.15 to 17.00.
The vaccination points are located at Jätkäsaari (Tyynenmerenkatu 6 L3), Malmi (Stadin ammattiopisto, Vanha Helsingintie 5/Latokartanontie 16), Messukeskus (Northern entrance, Ratapihantie 17) and Myllypuro (Metropolia, Myllypurontie 1). You must have an ID or Kela card with you when you come to the vaccination point. Please find the instructions at www.hel.fi/rokotukseen.
On Saturday, booster vaccines are given as normal to those who have made an appointment.
Director of Health and substance abuse services, Leena Turpeinen, recommends that everyone who is 16 years old or older and those who are 12–15 years old who belong to a risk group get vaccinated, if they are not already.
– Now it’s possible to drop by and get the vaccine if you go for a walk or drive, or even in a group. We are trying this for the first time now on Saturday and depending on the result we might offer this possibility more frequently, says Turpeinen.
– We try our best to make the vaccinations easy and accessible. In the future, we will also offer vaccines at pop-up points. We will tell more about the pop-up points later, Turpeinen continues.
There are plenty of appointment times available in Helsinki and it’s possible to get an appointment when it best suits you.
– We have received a lot of vaccines in Helsinki and there are more appointments available than are being booked. This is why we try our best to motivate Helsinkians and those living in Helsinki for a longer time to book appointments, Turpeinen says.
At the moment, 65% of Helsinkians have received the first coronavirus jab. Of people aged 70 and over more than 90% have received the first jab. For 50–69-year-olds, the vaccination coverage is 80–90%, for 35–49-year-olds 70–80%, and for 20–34-year-olds 60–70%.
Next week people who have had a coronavirus infection will receive an sms about the vaccinations
During next week, Helsinkians who have been diagnosed with a coronavirus infection or have had the first symptoms two months ago will receive an sms about the vaccinations. Currently vaccines are offered once two months have passed since the infection.
