CONTEMPORARY DANCE ENTRANCE EXAM SCHEDULE
The contemporary dance entrance exams will be held between 2–4 March 2026 in the gym hall of Kaisaniemi School during the school day. The exam lasts approximately 1.5 hours. More detailed dates and times will be announced separately. Late applicants cannot be admitted to the entrance exam.
Parents may, if they wish, wait in the lobby outside the gym. Students should wear clothing suitable for movement underneath their outdoor clothes, as changing rooms cannot be used during the exam. Outdoor clothing will be left in the lobby outside the gym. Long hair must be tied back, and students may bring a water bottle. The class is conducted barefoot.
The entrance exam includes a physical section, a dance section, and a pair or group task. In addition, we observe the student’s willingness to create their own movement. The exam is conducted as a group dance class, during which the teacher guides various exercises. We aim to create as relaxed an atmosphere as possible so that students do not need to feel nervous. No advance preparation is required for the entrance exam. The entrance exam is conducted in Finnish.
The exam will be held at Puutarhakatu 1.
Every student applying for weighted instruction must attend the entrance exam on the exam day and pass the exam. If a student requires special arrangements, the guardian must inform the school one week before the entrance exam. The guardian must provide a certificate from the student’s current school confirming the student’s entitlement to support. The entrance exam is conducted in Finnish.
Contemporary Dance retest (make-up exam)
If a student is ill on the entrance exam day, they may participate in a make-up exam. The guardian must inform the responsible teacher of the illness before the entrance exam begins (sini.lehto@edu.hel.fi) or contact the school office (toimistopalvelut.kaisaniemen.ala-aste@hel.fi) and provide the school with a medical certificate.
The make-up exam will be held on Friday, 13 March 2026 at 9:15 a.m.
Decisions regarding admission to weighted instruction will be mailed to guardians on 30 March 2026. The decision will also be published in Wilma for students attending schools operated by the City of Helsinki. The offered student place does not need to be separately accepted or confirmed.
NOTE! By applying for a place in weighted instruction for your child, you commit to accepting the offered place if your child is selected. If the student is selected for weighted instruction, you must inform the principal of the student’s current school. If the student is not selected, they may continue at their current school without any separate notification.
