“Working with parents on matters related to parenting and upbringing has always interested me. Before I started working for the City of Helsinki, I worked with children for a long time and felt it was time to expand my knowledge of parenting. My current duties are varied, and each family is unique,” Hanh says.

In addition to working as a social instructor, Hanh is also a neuropsychiatric coach and leads parent groups. Neuropsychiatric coaching offers support in daily life for children with neuropsychiatric diagnoses and their parents.

“The best thing about my job is that I get to decide what my workday looks like. My work includes client meetings, documentation and the production of materials. I have the opportunity to meet people daily who inspire thoughts and enthusiasm in me – be it clients or other professionals. I can work remotely, which I appreciate. Connecting with Swedish-speaking professionals is also important to me.”

Hanh studied social services at Arcada, after which she completed her master’s degree in social work. She has a few tips for students studying in the same field.

“Build up your professional network already during your studies and practical training. You make your own practical training: the more you give, the more you get. Dare to take space, call things into question and be creative. And don't forget to stay up to date and follow developments and trends in your field.”
