The work started in January 2026 with the installation of worksite facilities and fencing. Construction is expected to be completed in July 2027, and the school should start operating in the renovated premises in autumn 2027.
The renovations will include, among other things, the replacement of building services systems and the renovation of the roof as well as some facades and windows. The floors and floor structures will also be replaced and the yard improved. The existing trees on the plot will be preserved.
The worksite is mainly located on the school plot. Site traffic will run via the Paasikivenkatu side. In the street areas, some infrastructure connection installation work will be carried out for a short while.
The daycare centre and school will operate in the pavilion at Hiekkarannantie 6 during the renovation. Toini classes will move to new premises in the Sturenkatu 6 school building.
