Event organisation guidelines to change in the summer

The City of Helsinki's electronic service for event permits and notifications will change in June, when the old service is discontinued. Event-related permits will be applied for in Helsinki using authority-specific forms from 1 June 2023.

The previous service, asiointi.hel.fi, has been used by the City of Helsinki for more than ten years. The system is being phased out because it has reached the end of its technical life cycle. Event authorisation applications submitted to the old service will be available to event organisers until 30 June 2023 and will be processed by the authority as normal. If an application submitted to the old service before 1 June 2023 needs to be completed or amended, the amendments can be submitted in accordance with the new application guidelines. 

From 1 June 2023 onwards, new applications will be submitted according to the instructions on the City of Helsinki's website Event Notifications and Permits page. A separate application is currently made to each authority. 

Strengthening the possibilities for event organisation is an important objective of the Helsinki City Strategy. The current model is an interim step, as the city will introduce a new event management service later this year. It will considerably simplify and facilitate the licensing of event organisation, as the application for permits from different authorities will be handled centrally.
