Kulosaari Manor (Kipparlahdensilmukka 5) has found a new owner in RL Tilat Oy. The real estate development company wants to develop the manor into a versatile tourism and recreation centre that combines cultural heritage, proximity to nature and high-quality services.
As a first step, the company aims to open a public sauna in the area in the coming weeks. Later on, it aims to open meeting and banqueting facilities and an on-demand sauna. The company’s future plans include a summer café and other recreational services.
“We want to make the manor an open place for everyone, offering space for spending time together, wellbeing and experiences," says Chairperson of the Board of RL Tilat Oy Riku Lähdemäki.
Respecting traditions, building the future
The history of Kulosaari Manor dates all the way back to the 1540s, although the current main building was completed in the 18th century. In addition to the main building, the deal includes nine other buildings in the area, including the 19th-century Tallbacka Villa and swimming room.
The manor buildings were sold to the highest bidder. The buyer's business plan and concept were also evaluated.
Riku Lähdemäki wants to develop the manor area into an approachable place that serves both Helsinki residents and tourists.
“When it comes to developing the manor, we want to preserve the spirit and history of the area, but at the same time create new uses for it. We hope that people will find their way to the excellent nature trails and beaches in particular.”
RL Tilat Oy specializes in real estate maintenance and development. The sauna will be operated by an associated company of RL Tilat Oy, while the meeting and banqueting facilities will be operated by a partner.
“We humbly accept the baton from the City of Helsinki and are looking forward to developing the area responsibly for the next era," says Lähdemäki.
