The coronavirus epidemic is currently widespread in the Helsinki metropolitan area and there are infections in practically every district of the city. In the future, when a person in a daycare centre, school or educational institution is diagnosed with an infection, the guardians, the students of the educational institutions and the entire staff will be notified of the possible exposure by e-mail or in the Wilma system. The daycare centre group, grade level, or other personally identifiable information will not be published.
Exposed persons will continue to be contacted separately and will receive instructions and information on their quarantine. Unfortunately, as the number of infections increases, there is a congestion and there may be a delay in contacting.
The face mask recommendation has returned to those aged 12-years-old and above in schools and educational institutions
Due to the aggravation of the coronavirus situation, the face mask recommendation has been reinstated for those over 12-years-old and above in schools and educational institutions from the sixth grade upwards. Masks should also be worn by school and educational staff. The recommendation also applies to early childhood education staff. The mask recommendation is valid until 16 January 2022, and applies to both vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals.
Although schools are low-risk places for infections according to the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) risk rating, the aim is to do everything possible to ensure that daycare centres, schools and educational institutions continue to be as safe as possible. At the same time, efforts are being made to ensure the continuation of the local school service.
