Booking for the third dose of COVID-19 vaccination for people aged 18–59 opened Monday 20 December

News about the third dose of COVID-19 vaccination for people aged 18–59.

The third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be given next to Helsinki residents aged 18–59. The third vaccination dose can be given no earlier than five months after the second dose has been received. The third dose will be given first to the oldest and then to the youngest, when five months have passed.

For example, those aged 55–59 can get the third vaccination dose in December at the earliest and those aged 50–54 in January 2022.

You need to book an appointment to receive the third vaccination

From the morning of 20 December onwards, the fastest way to book an appointment is viabookcovidvaccine.fi(Link leads to external service). You can also book an appointment by calling 09 310 46300 (open on weekdays). You can book an appointment for a third dose when you have turned 18.

Currently, unfortunately, the available appointments run into January, but more appointments will be opened as more vaccinators are recruited. Vaccinators are being actively recruited and vaccination capacity is being constantly increased.

The vaccination point at Messukeskus to reopen

“We are doing everything we can to make COVID-19 vaccinations available to Helsinki residents as quickly as possible. We are recruiting more vaccinators and, happily, many volunteers have also reached out to us. In addition, vaccination with private occupational health services has been under preparation since November, and we will probably have their support after the turn of the year. We will also accelerate vaccinations by reopening the COVID-19 vaccination point at Messukeskus in January,” says Medical Director of Health Stations Timo Lukkarinen.

Both COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations are now offered at COVID-19 vaccination points, which is reflected in congestion in both the booking of appointments and at vaccination points. We, therefore, ask people to arrive on time for their vaccinations.

“Now that we are opening appointments for 18–59-year-olds, the available appointments will unfortunately go beyond five months. When we get more vaccinators, there will be more appointments to offer. All available vaccination appointments can be found at bookcovidvaccine.fi.,” Lukkarinen continues.

The first and second vaccination doses still available without an appointment

The first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine can be received without an appointment at vaccination points in Jätkäsaari, Kannelmäki, Malmi and Myllypuro, as well as at a pop-up point in Kamppi shopping centre. See the locations and opening hours of vaccination points at hel.fi/vaccination.
