A second strike warning concerning personal assistants declared for 6–12 June

The Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL has declared a second, nationwide strike warning for 6–12 June.

The strike will concern personal assistance work belonging to pay group A. Work tasks whose negligence would threaten life and health belong to other pay groups and have been ruled out of the strike.

This time, the strike will also cover Helsinki.

Ban on additional work, overtime and shift swaps earlier launched by JHL as well as a job search embargo will continue until further notice. JHL has introduced contracts for long shifts, agreements on exceptions to working and rest times during travel as well as agreements on exemptions to overtime pay as new measures to be covered by industrial action.

The first strike, which applied to Helsinki Metropolitan Area and Helsinki, took place between 25 and 31 May.

Follow these steps if the strike begins

Use the personal assistance service voucher if you have one. Your close relative can also act as your personal assistant during the strike.

Contact your social worker if you need a personal assistance service voucher so that a close relative can substitute your regular assistant.

If a close relative acts as your assistant during the strike, contact personal assistance social instructors in pay related matters after the completion of the actual hours of work, where necessary, tel. +358 9 310 22279, 9 310 39373 or 9 310 45939.
