Artist Studios at Harakka Island

Helsinki City lends artist studios at the Harakka Island. The City of Helsinki Culture and leisure division publishes information about available workspaces on this website.

Professional artists of various kinds have used the three-storey main building on Harakka island since 1989. Now commonly known as the Artists’ house, the building has a total of 30 studios that only seldom become available for rent. Painters and artisans who live in Helsinki have priority in applications. The studios and furnishings are rented out on five-year contracts. Tenants may not spend the night on the premises.

Studios that become available are advertised on our website and on the website news feeds of the Cultural Office. Applications are accepted only when the availability of a studio has been advertised. It is not possible to wait for studios to become available.

Decisions regarding the rental of artist studios at Harakka Island are prepared at the Unit of Partnerships, Grants and Projects that is a part of Cultural Services and Support. The decisions are made by the Head of Unit(Link leads to external service) (in Finnish).
