The Hopeasalmentie bridge crosses Itäväylä between Kulosaarentie and Kulosaaren puistotie. The bridge deck is in poor condition and the waterproofing has reached the end of its life. It is cost-effective to renovate the whole bridge at once in connection with replacing the deck and waterproofing.
The project involves repairing the bridge and the metro tunnel at its northern end, renovating the district heating line and replacing the street surface structures near the junctions at both ends of the bridge.
The bridge deck will be demolished in March by sawing and drilling, which will generate noise in the vicinity.
While the Hopeasalmentie bridge is closed, pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted to cross Itäväylä via the Adjutantinpolku underpass. Bus line 16 will run via Kulosaari during the works.
