The Christmas holiday in Helsinki’s comprehensive schools and general upper secondary schools will start on Friday 23 December 2023. The first day of school after the holiday will be Monday 8 January 2024. Most Helsinki Vocational College and Adult Institute students will be on holiday from Christmas to New Year’s Day.

Advisory services during the holiday
The Education Division’s advisory services will be closed on Friday 22 December.
Between 27 and 29 December, the advisory services will answer your questions by phone, tel. +358 9 310 44986, by email in koulutusneuvonta@hel.fi(Link opens default mail program), and through the feedback system. After New Year’s Day from 2 January 2024 onwards, you can meet us at the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Eduguidance advisory service for foreign-language families will be closed from 21 to 29 December. From 2 January 2024 onwards you can reach us again in Finnish and English at eduguidance@hel.fi(Link opens default mail program). International families can also book a phone appointment by email if they wish.
Service guidance for early childhood education
The telephone service for early childhood education, tel. +358 9 310 80488, is open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 11.00 between 18th to 29th of December 2023.
If you have questions about Asti, user guidance is available on 09 310 88 800. The Asti user guidance is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 18.00.
The Daycare Fee Unit of early childhood education can help you by email at varhaiskasvatus.maksut@hel.fi(Link opens default mail program) or by phone on +358 9 310 8600 (switch board). The telephone service is open Mon–Fri at 9.00–11.00.
