Heka is a city-owned housing company that owns over 50,000 state-subsidised apartments throughout Helsinki. Each year, the City of Helsinki allocates between 3,000 and 4,000 low-rent housing units to applicants showing the greatest need. Heka apartments do not charge security deposit, and leases are generally for an indefinite period.

New Heka subsidised apartments will be completed at the end of February in Vuosaari at Maustetehtaankatu 2. The estimated completion date is on 26 February.

The application period for the apartments begins on 2 December. You can apply for the apartments by filling a housing application. If you have already filled a housing application, you can edit the application and add new apartments to it. You can find more information on the apartments from Oikotie.fi. The tenant selection begins on 16 December at the earliest.

The buildings have a total of 118 apartments, ranging from studios of approximately 33 square metres to four-room family apartments of over 90 square metres. All of the apartments have a glazed balcony or a balconette, and some of the ground floor apartments have a glazed terrace. All of the apartments are designed to be fully accessible. The kitchens are equipped with induction hobs, cooker hoods, fridge-freezers and dishwashers.

The property consists of three six-storey buildings. The buildings have elevators and an accessible entrance. The buildings have plenty of shared spaces that support smooth daily life and communal activities, such as a shared sauna, a club room, a laundry room with drying facilities, and various storage rooms. Parking spaces are located in an unheated car park under the yard deck, which is shared by the companies in the block. There are also bicycle storage spaces under the yard deck. Maustetehtaankatu 2 is a non-smoking location, meaning that smoking is prohibited inside the apartments, on balconies, in all shared facilities and in the courtyard.

The new property at Maustetehtaankatu 2 is located in the developing Aurinkolahti neighbourhood, where everyday life runs smoothly. The area has excellent transport connections thanks to the metro, and all everyday services are close by: schools, daycare centres, a library, Cultural Centre Vuotalo and a health station are practically next door. You can easily do your shopping at Columbus, and Itis is just a short metro ride away – the trip takes only six minutes. Vuosaari offers a wide range of outdoor activities: its beaches, extensive green areas and outdoor trails invite you to get active all year round.
