Helsinki guide map 2026 published

The City Survey Services of the Urban Environment Division have published an updated edition of the guide map of Helsinki. The map (scale of 1:20,000), which is intended to serve as a guide, depicts land use, highlighted roads, place names and street numbers, among other things.
Opaskartta/Guidekarta 2026 ‑oppaan kansi. Etualalla näkyy rantaa ja vettä, taustalla kulttuurirakennus ja kaupungin siluetti puiden kehystämänä. Kannen yläosassa teksti ”Opaskartta Guidekarta 2026” ja alaosassa Helsinki–Helsingfors‑logo.

The aim of the content and visuals is clarity, reliability and consistency. The location information for the symbols used in the map (museums, theatres, churches, beaches, etc.) is largely taken from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Service Map. The map enlargement of central Helsinki uses symbols that take up little space to make it easier to locate significant attractions and buildings.

The folded map is packed in a cardboard box. The 80-page list of place names has been omitted from this edition. Also for sale is a set of guide map sheets with straight pages. The previous edition was released in 2024.

The easiest way to browse maps and other material produced by the City is to view them in the open map service available online at kartta.hel.fi. There you will find e.g. up-to-date base, cadastral and guide maps, city planning information, historical data sets and aerial photographs.
