Ojapuisto Sports Park, to be built in Mellunmäki, will be a versatile place for exercise, serving both schoolchildren and other exercisers in the area. The new sports park will include a multi-purpose field and a large artificial grass field.

The park will also feature a running track and training facilities for athletics. An outdoor gym will be built near the fields.

Construction of the park will start in May and is scheduled to be completed in October or November. Pre-construction works have already been carried out on the site and were completed in 2025.

Improved exercise opportunities for Viikki area

The rock dust surface of Viikinkenttä will get a new artificial turf over the summer. The field can be frozen in winter, doubling as an ice skating rink. A running track around the field and a new long jump area will also be built. An outdoor gym will be built near the field, and new greenery will be planted in the area to enhance it.

Construction work on Viikinkenttä will start in mid-May and is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

The worn-out field in Maarianmaanpuisto Park in Viikinmäki will be converted into a multi-purpose field with a new type of artificial turf. In addition to football, basketball and baseball, the future field will be well-suited to racquet sports such as floorball and field hockey.

Construction work on the Maarianmaanpuisto field will start in early May, with the aim of having the completed field available in August for the start of school.

Renovation of Mustikkamaa Sports Park to continue with the installation of artificial turf

The phased renovation of Mustikkamaa Sports Park will continue in April and May. The existing rock dust field in the park will be converted to artificial grass. Corn granules will be used as the field’s infill.

The park’s lighting will be replaced. More litter bins, benches, picnic tables and bike racks will be added in the park, and the parking area will also be renovated.

The work is due to be completed in the autumn, in September or October.
