The centralised contraceptive counselling services will not change as a result of the move. The telephone number for the contraceptive counselling will remain the same, +358 9 310 455 66, and the telephone service will be available 8.00–14.00 from Monday to Thursday and 8.00 to 12 noon on Fridays. You can also contact the service online via Maisa. Additionally, you can register for your appointment in advance via Maisa.
In the future, walk-in services for under-18s without an appointment will be available on Mondays from 16.00 to 18.00. You can come to contraceptive counselling without a referral or any prior contact. Due to the move, there will be no walk-in appointments available on 23 September.
“Centralised contraceptive counselling caters especially to clients under the age of 18. “We also perform IUD and contraceptive implant procedures for people under the age of 25, for example,” says Kaisa Kivistö, the medical director of health stations.
In addition to centralised contraceptive counselling, Helsinki residents can also access free-of-charge contraceptive services at health stations, through school or student health care services, and at maternity clinics. In certain circumstances, the contraceptives themselves are also free.
“Contraceptive counselling is an important service provided by the City. If you have any questions or concerns about contraceptives, you should bring them up with a professional of health care services. Help and support are available, regardless of the client’s gender,” Kaisa Kivistö continues.
