Kaunissaari cabins and Pihlajasaari villas and saunas can be booked at Varaamo

The popular cabins in Kaunissaari and conference villas and saunas in Pihlajasaari will soon be available for all Helsinki residents to book through the Varaamo service.

The cabins in Kaunissaari will become available for all Helsinki residents to book through the Varaamo service on Monday, 13 March 2023 at 10.00. Booking for the conference villas and saunas in Pihlajasaari will begin on Wednesday, 15 March 2023 at 10.00. You can easily make a reservation at  Varaamo.hel.fi (Link leads to external service)

Cabins in Kaunissaari

An island in the Sipoo archipelago, Kaunissaari is suitable for hiking, camping and fishing. The island has rocky and pebble beaches and magnificent sand beaches. You can reach Kaunissaari by ferry or your own boat. The island has cooking shelters and a restaurant and, in the summer, visitors are served by a shop boat.

Seven cabins in Kaunissaari can be booked through Varaamo. You can make a reservation starting from 13 March 2023 at 10.00. The cabins can be booked for a week at a time between 29 May and 3 September 2023. The reservation period of the cabins is from Monday to Sunday. You only need to select the start date from the reservation calendar.

Villas and saunas in Pihlajasaari

Pihlajasaari is an island located in front of Hernesaari, about 10 minutes by sea. There is a water transport connection to the island from Merisatama and Ruoholahti. The island’s nature consists of rocks, wooded areas, groves and rocky and sandy beaches. The diverse nature, good location and functional services have made Pihlajasaari a popular summer island in Helsinki.


Two conference villas and two saunas are available for rent in Pihlajasaari. You can make a reservation starting from 15 March 2023 at 10.00. Suitable for small parties and meetings, the villas can be booked for daytime use from 10.00 to 21.00 (from 22 May to 27 August 2023). Sauna bookings can be made from Tuesday to Sunday (from 1 June to 27 August 2023).

Pihlajasaari also has another sauna, Aalto-sauna(Link leads to external service) (€62 per 2 hours, max. 6 people), which will become available for booking via Varaamo on a date to be announced later.

You can easily make a booking in the Varaamo service

In Varaamo(Link leads to external service), the City of Helsinki booking service, residents can book public premises and equipment for their own use. In order to make a reservation, you need a valid email address with one of the following authentication methods: Yle ID, Facebook account or Google account. You can pay for your reservation with your online banking credentials, Wallets, credit card or debit card.

The cabins and saunas are in high demand. Large numbers of visitors may temporarily congest the booking service. We apologise in advance for any problems with making the reservation.
