Downward trend in new payroll errors and backlog

The total number of the City of Helsinki’s payroll errors has decreased, and the total number of contacts related to errors handled by the payroll customer service is clearly decreasing.

The number of new payroll errors has fallen to the level of 3%. During the previous payroll system, the estimated occurrence of new payroll errors out of all payslips was 5%, and we have been below this figure since November. The occurrence of new payroll errors is now under control. We are still, however, facing challenges in correcting the errors within the set response time. This is due to the fact that we are still working on reducing backlog, but the amount of backlog is also decreasing nicely.

The Financial Management Services public enterprise (Talpa) responsible for payroll calculation is now allocating resources to speeding up the processing of backlog, while also duly preparing for the holiday and summer season.

Helsinki’s payroll is prepared for the summer season

The number of payroll personnel has been considerably increased compared to a normal summer holiday season. Correction of reported payroll errors will continue as usual throughout the summer.

Salary increases based on collective agreements will be implemented as planned in cooperation with the system supplier. The City of Helsinki has also required that the continuity of the system supplier’s services be ensured during the summer and holidays.

The support offered to managers has been extended and appointment booking has been sped up during the summer season, so that the persons serving as managers or manager deputies for the first time this summer have access to help in the use of the payroll system and in entering data in the system.
