The above-ground floors of the building have been demolished, and all that remains is the demolition of the basement floors. Next week, work will start on the soil support piles and pile walls to keep the site and its surroundings safe.
Demolition and piling work to generate noise
Piling, demolition and loading of demolition material will inevitably generate noise, but the amount of noise will vary depending on the phase of the work. The noisiest phases in the piling process include pile driving, pile drilling and rock anchoring.Pole chipping remains the noisiest phase of demolition.
In basements, the soil wall acts as a natural sound barrier, which can reduce the noise from demolition compared to the previous stages.
Break from the noisiest demolition work in the afternoons
No chiselling work will be carried out in the afternoons from 15.00 to 17.00. The break is timed to coincide with the outdoor play time of the daycare centre next door. During the break, other work will continue on the site.
Dust control will continue to be effectively managed by watering the material being demolished and the demolition parts being moved to prevent dust from spreading into the environment.
The final phase of the demolition will be carried out by Uudenmaan Infrapalvelut Oy.
