Helsinki Mayor Daniel Sazonov paid a visit to the Naistenklinikka maternity ward on 14 August to congratulate the family of the city's 700,000th resident.
The milestone baby − the Lehtola family's first child − weighed 4084 grams and was 54.5 centimetres long at birth.
"I would like to warmly congratulate the newborn 700,000th resident of Helsinki and the child's entire family on this important, happy and unique occasion. It is my ardent wish that every new resident born in Helsinki enjoys a joyful and safe childhood and is able to pursue their dreams in the city of their birth and the city that is their home. The City of Helsinki is committed to making this possible," Sazonov commented.
