If you have questions about daycare and schools in Helsinki, the Education Division’s customer service, and the Daycare and Education Guidance Service (EduGuidance) are happy to help you.
Education Division’s customer service helps you in all questions concerning early childhood education schools and other educational institutions. Thanks to the Túlka service, you can get service in your own mother tongue. You can also get customer service in Chinese, as the customer service recently had a Chinese-speaking member as an addition to their team.
EduGuidance, an advisory service for international and foreign-language speaking families, is available during call hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, and by email. The service is also available outside the call hours, as you can book an appointment at a suitable time by email. The service is primarily available in English and in Finnish, and if necessary, service can be given in other languages, too.
"Families can contact me if they need information on applying to daycare or school, or would like to know more about the Finnish education system or the playground and club activities, for example" says Elena Silverang, Project Coordicator at EduGuidance.
During the coronavirus, the city does not offer so-called “on-foot” advisory service, where Elena Silverang would go meet people around the City. The idea behind the on-foot advisory service is that advisors meet people in everyday locations and situations, for example at playgrounds.
"Even though there is no face-to-face counselling now, guidance services are still available, so customers should not hesitate to contact us and ask," Silverang encourages.
