Children aged 5-11 years old and belonging to at-risk groups will be vaccinated on 27-31 December and 3-7 January 2022 at Itäkatu Family Centre (Tallinnanaukio 1) and Kallio Family Centre (Toinen linja 4 C). The vaccinations are available by appointment.

Vaccination appointments can be made at bookcovidvaccine.fi(Link leads to external service). The booking of appointments will open at 10:00 on Thursday 23 December 2021.

More comprehensive information on the risk groups of children aged 5-11-years-old can be found at coronavaccination-en.hel.fi. The child's inclusion in the risk groups should be presented at the vaccination point upon request. This can be proved by a copy of a medical report or by information extracted from the Omakanta service.

“Vaccinations for this group started last Saturday at COVID-19 vaccination points. We also want to offer at-risk groups the opportunity to get vaccinated during the Christmas break and at the beginning of next year in two family centres”, says Director of family services Hanna Viitala.

A child is vaccinated with the consent of their guardians

Vaccination requires the consent of the child’s guardians. If the child appears for a vaccination with only one guardian, the absent guardian must have signed the consent form. The consent form can be printedfrom THL's (Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare) website here (in Finnish).(Link leads to external service)

You can also use your Finnish identity card to have a vaccination.

Please be prepared to prove the child’s identity with an identity or Kela card and have your card ready as you wait.

The vaccine offered to 5-11-year-olds is Biontech-Pfizer's Comirnaty vaccine.

Second dose of COVID-19 vaccination

The second dose of COVID-19 vaccination should not be given earlier than 6 weeks after the first dose. The time for the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination can be booked later. The opening of the appointment bookings will be announced later.

COVID-19 vaccinations for all 5-11-year-olds

In Finland, it has just been decided that COVID-19 vaccinations can be offered to anyone over the age of 5-years-old. Currently, children aged 5-11-years-old must belong to an at-risk group to be vaccinated. The introduction of vaccinations of basic healthy 5–11-year-olds in Helsinki will be announced separately later.
