The trees will be removed for safety reasons, as they are in danger of falling due to their poor condition. The removal will be carried out in March.
The trees in poor condition are located in the Hanasaari power plant area. In addition to this, two trees in poor condition will be removed from Sörnäisten rantatie. Tree felling is accompanied by other tree maintenance measures, such as the removal of dead branches.
During the spring, the Hanasaari area will undergo alteration work to allow the area and buildings to be partially opened up for temporary use.
The Hanasaari area will be opened to Helsinki residents on Helsinki Day, 12 June. The City will share more information on the area’s opening ceremony and its temporary use during the spring.
