Artificial ice field

Helsinki has many artificial ice fields. The season for artificial ice fields is longer than for other ice skating areas. All artificial ice fields have public sessions.

The City of Helsinki maintains several artificial ice fields, which have a longer season than other ice skating areas. During the winter, you can enjoy ice skating free of charge at all of Helsinki's artificial ice fields during public sessions. Public sessions are divided into times that allow hockey sticks and times that do not. Artificial ice fields typically provide the option to borrow skating aids. Heated changing rooms and toilets are available at artificial ice fields.

Current information on the condition of artificial ice fields is available at ulkoliikunta.fi. More information on the opening hours and locations of artificial ice fields is available from the specific locations. Follow the link below to learn more about reserving regular time slots.

E-service for sports facility reservations

You can reserve time slots at sports facilities via e-services. It is not possible to reserve time slots by phone or email.

How the process works

You can reserve an individual time slot based on the availability in the calendar. Regular time slots are requested seasonally. You can find the application periods for regular time slots on our website. You can also enquire about available regular time slots outside the seasonal application periods.

Tournaments and matches must be requested with a separate application, even if they take place during the regular time slot allocated to a team. The match and tournament application must indicate whether the event will have an admission fee or not.

You should only apply for slots based on actual need. The requested time slot must include preparation, warm-up, set-up and dismantling times, as well as the actual training or competition time. You must apply for time slots for the whole season (winter or summer) using a single application. Please note: the winter season includes autumn and spring. The allocation of time slots at sports facilities is based on the allocation criteria decided by the committee.

The following guidelines apply outside the application periods and do not apply to special facilities (e.g. indoor ice rinks and indoor swimming pools). When reserving a sports facility for sports (single time slot), we recommend submitting your reservation application at least seven working days before you need the space. When reserving a sports facility for a non-sporting activity or a sports event, we recommend submitting your reservation application at least one month before you need the facility. During busy periods, the processing of your application may be delayed.

A reservation confirmation will be sent once your reservation application has been processed. You can find the terms and conditions on our website. Complaints and requests for changes to reservations should be sent to liikuntapaikkavaraukset@hel.fi(Link opens default mail program).

The person reserving a facility consents to the name of the association they represent or their name (first name, surname) appearing on the public sports facilities calendar on the Sports Services website.

Price: The price of time slots is determined by the space you are reserving, the length of the session and the price group of the reservation. For more information, see the Price list for sports facility reservations.

Invoices for reserved time slots will be sent by post to the billing or e-invoicing address provided by the customer during the following month. Private individuals can also order an e-invoice through their online bank. Invoices will not be sent by email.
